HONOLULU – Heather Ezell had 21 points and seven assists to lead No. 25 Iowa State to an 87-71 victory over San Diego State on Sunday at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Classic.

Alison Lacy added 17 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Cyclones (5-1), who rebounded from their first loss of the season, a 39-point drubbing against No. 5 Stanford on Saturday night. Ezell made five of seven 3-pointers.

Iowa State withstood a terrific game by Jene Morris, who led the Aztecs (4-3) with 34 points, including 23 in the second half. Paris Johnson added 14 points and 10 rebounds for San Diego State, but was just 2-of-11 from the line.

The Cyclones led 43-35 at halftime and opened the second half with a 10-0 run. The Aztecs cut the lead to 10 with 3:10 left but couldn't get any closer.
