PHILADELPHIA – Quarterback Adam DiMichele and senior running back Marcellous Grigsby rushed for two touchdowns each as Temple snapped a 6-6 tie with three scores in the final 7:59 for a 27-6 victory over Akron on Friday.

DiMichele completed 15 of 30 passes for 220 yards and had 50 yards on the ground while Grigsby recorded his first two career touchdowns for Temple (5-7, 4-4 Mid-American Conference). The Owls won their final two games and racked up their most wins since a 7-4 season in 1990.

Dennis Kennedy rushed for 153 yards on 25 carries for his sixth consecutive game of at least 100 yards on the ground for Akron (5-7, 3-5), which dropped its final three games after winning five of its first nine. Kennedy finished with 1,321 yards, third on the school's all-time list for a single season behind Mike Clark in 1986 and James Black in 1983.

Akron tied the game at 6 on an 18-yard field goal by Igor Iveljic with 10:15 remaining. Iveljic, who earlier hit a 24-yard field goal, also missed from 32 and 41 yards.

On Temple's ensuing possession, DiMichele threw a 50-yard pass to Jason Harper, setting up a 4-yard touchdown run by DiMichele for a 13-6 lead. DiMichele had opened the scoring in the second quarter with a 4-yard run.

After Kevin Kroboth intercepted Akron quarterback Chris Jacquemain and returned it 56 yards to the 18-yard line, Grigsby scored from 3 yards out to give Temple a 20-6 advantage with 4:02 left. Grigsby capped the scoring with a 9-yard run with 2:29 remaining.
